Rent Receipts

A Rent Receipt is an acknowledgment signed and dated by you as rent received on the premises. A Rent Receipt should show tenant’s name, landlord’s name, amount of rent, address of rented premises, period of rent, and date of payment within three days of receiving payment. If rent payment is through direct debit arrangements or internet banking, no receipt is required. However, as a landlord you are required to keep record of all electronic rent receipts to provide on request.

You may wish to obtain from your bank a deposit book. This will have your account details pre-printed, making the process simple for the tenant that wishes to pay over the counter, and will provide proof of payment for your tenant.
